About the Freedom of Mind Resource Center

This site is dedicated to respect for human rights, spirituality, and consumer awareness. We endeavor to be a safe and responsible place where you can turn to for resources, news and information about destructive cults, and mind control techniques, as well as learn how to help yourself and others. Steven Alan Hassan is a licensed mental health counselor and expert on destructive mind control issues. He offers a unique method of specialized counseling, called the Strategic Interaction Approach (SIA), which is better than either exit counseling or deprogramming as a way to help people who are negatively impacted by cult involvement.

You will also have access to resources vital to understanding how destructive cults work. We believe that only you have the right to control your mind. With knowledge about how destructive cults work, awareness of the misuse of hypnosis and other mind control techniques (commonly called "brainwashing"), and effective reality-testing strategies, you will be able to determine what is best for your life. This web site is becoming a major center for a worldwide virtual community, which supports the freedom of the mind.

We also offer resources for former members of destructive groups.

The web site is organized into five major sections – which are listed on the buttons at the left hand side of the every page.

Help for Someone Else is the place to start if you are concerned about a friend or loved one.

Help for Oneself else is the place to begin if you are a former member of a destructive group or relationship who is seeking assistance with your recovery.

The Mental Health Professionals page features items of interest to those working with clients affected by mind control related issues.

The Media page directs media professionals to Steve Hassan’s online press kit and information on how to set up an interview with Steve.

The Resource Center is designed as a tool for researchers. From there you can access news and information about controversial groups as well as articles, links and information on upcoming events.
