Word of Faith Fellowship Church (Spindale, NC - USA)

Description:

It is a Christian cult. Leader believes she and husband are apostles of God. The Whaley's live in $250,000 home which is constantly being renovated by people from the church (labor of love). Youth help keep up 60 odd acres of land. Those close to the Whaley's are able to start businesses, which are in trun controlled by the Whaley's. The members of the church that get to work, and where, and how much they are paid is up to the leadership (Jane Whaley). She has had church members laid off from work in order to deal with their sins until they have a change of heart. Members may not watch, listen to or read any form of media. I had been put on church discipline for reading a newspaper, and also been disciplined for listening to the radio to hear the weather. If you want to know anything going on, you are required to ask, and even then you may never get an answer. Mail is to be checked by a certain member of the household you live in to filter out materials deemed ungodly. They use fear; they indoctrinate you that you will go to hell if you leave and you will go back to your former sins. Any lie is OK that helps the cause, as long as you don't get caught. Jane uses notes to control people. If you want to meet with her you write a note and maybe she will talk to you and maybe she won't. To get sin delt with before service, you waited by her office.

No outside relationships are allowed. Jane makes all rules which come from God. A week or two later somebody in leadership is doing the very thing we were all told was "not God". Thoughts and feelings are to be checked out by leadership.
