Ex-Jehovah Witness whistleblower calls it as he sees it

April 23rd, 2006 -

[Jehovah Witnesses] The Post Chronicle runs a scorching commentary by Danny Haszard, former Jehovah Witness and author of the Watchtower Whistleblower 1 website.

Since he left the group Danny’s family has cut off all contact with him.

“Yes, you can ‘check out anytime you want, but you can never leave’, and they can and will hold your family hostage. […]

To even vocally question the teachings of the Watchtower results in a complete cutting off, with family and friends usually being forbidden to talk to the offending party. The Watchtower is a truly Orwellian world, in a time when Orwellian societies are nearly obsolete.”

He brings to mind that in essence the Jehovah Witnesses area business, not a religion.

“The JW’s Watchtower magazine is big money, one of the top 40 New York City corporations making nearly one billion dollars a year. That’s just from one of their many corporations.”

And he brings to mind the excessive level of information control in the organisation, one of the tell-tale signs of an abusive cult.

“The Watchtower strives hard to control the flow of information to the individual Witness, and prefers that all instruction come through the magazines they carry door-to-door. Without this form of control, even as they themselves admit, they would believe just the same as other Bible believers.”
